Job Information
Job Description- Propulsion & Machinery: Ensures the main engines, generators, and auxiliary systems are always operational. They personally oversee major overhauls and troubleshoot complex failures.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforces strict adherence to MARPOL (pollution prevention) and SOLAS (safety at sea). They are legally responsible for the "Oil Record Book" and ensuring no illegal discharges occur.
- Budget & Logistics: Manages the department’s budget, monitors fuel and lubricant consumption, and orders essential spare parts for upcoming voyages or dry-dockings.
- Leadership: Acts as a mentor and supervisor to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Engineers. They ensure the crew is properly trained and that all work is performed under safe conditions (using Permit to Work systems).
- Emergency Management: During a fire, flood, or blackout, the Chief is the primary decision-maker in the engine room, coordinating with the Captain on the bridge to save the ship.
Skills and Qualifications:
AT LEAST 18 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS CHIEF ENGINEER
WITH OR WITHOUT VALID US VISA
HOLDING VALID DOCUMENTS
3 MONTHS OF INITIAL CONTRACT
