Job Information
Job Description- Machinery Operation & Maintenance: Overseas the safe operation and repair of the main propulsion engine, auxiliary engines (generators), boilers, and electrical systems.
- Department Leadership: Supervises all engineering officers and ratings. They assign daily tasks and are responsible for the training and professional development of junior engineers and cadets.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensures the department adheres to international regulations such as SOLAS (safety), MARPOL (pollution prevention), and the ISM Code.
- Technical Administration: Manages the engineering budget, maintains spare parts inventories, and monitors fuel and lubricant consumption. They must keep detailed records in the engine log and oil record books.
- Emergency Response: Acts as the technical lead during emergencies, such as engine failures or engine room fires, working closely with the Captain to resolve the situation.
Skills and Qualifications:
AT LEAST 18 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS CHIEF ENGINEER
WITH OR WITHOUT VALID US VISA
