PAYROLL SPECIALIST
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for working with the NA Payroll Manager to process the bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for US and Canadian Employees for both the corporate and call center populations (approximately 1,700 employees)..This extremely fast paced time sensitive position must think outside the box to help streamline processes, work to overcome systems issues and limitations, manage priorities and plan time accordingly to meet payroll timelines, while always maintaining accuracy.
The call center payroll comes with many challenges including multi-state high turnover environment, large volume of transactions and complex pay calculations. This role helps shape system support to aid in managing these challenges.
- Under guidance of the Payroll Manager process the bi-weekly payroll for call center staff. Specific duties include managing new hire set up and terminations, set up and maintenance of banking and tax information, management of garnishment process and documentation, and uploading payroll files to our online payroll service. In addition, manage the payroll email inbox (Gov communications) and payroll employee help centre in workday to handle high volume of employee questions or issues.
- Work with the Payroll Manager to process the semi-monthly corporate payroll. Duties would include time tracking, garnishment, and pay card tracking. The payroll specialist also works closely with HR and accounting teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years payroll processing experience.
- The candidate must work USA time zone / shift (California State)
- Experience using payroll processing software, working with high volume payroll processing (1000+ high turnover employees) is required.
- Workday or similar HR platform knowledge strongly preferred
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately, is essential to this role.
- Knowledge of garnishment processes is a plus.
- Strong computer skills including expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel this includes proven experience with formulas, pivot tables and vlookup functions is essential.
- Preparation and submission of payroll information required by local regulations and external auditors.
