Qualifications:

• Graduate of any 4 or 5-year course (any 4 or 5 year course )
• Computer Literate (Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Work Experience: Have at least 2 years' relative experience in a food industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Knowledge in First Aid and Emergency Response
• Knowledgeable with OSH Standard
• Corporate Environmental, Safety and Health Policy and Preventive Maintenance.
• Good Communication skills both oral and written.
• Excellent leadership and inter-personal skills.

Job Description:

A SAFETY OFFICER is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the company and its employees. A safety officer identifies, investigates, and controls safety hazards, conducts risk assessments, and enforces preventative measures. A safety officer also supports the development of OHS policies and programs, advises and instructs on safety-related topics, and provides information to the appropriate function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist, advise or guide in complying with the risk assessment and development of health and safety programs;
• Make at least a monthly appraisal of programs and safety performance of the company/establishment, including the activities of the safety committee;
• To be present during scheduled safety inspection by authorized government agents, and during regular safety committee meetings; and plans and develops accident prevention programs for the establishment.
• Directs the accident prevention efforts of the establishment in accordance with the safety programs safety performance and government regulations in order to prevent accidents from occurring in the workplace.
• Conducts safety meetings at least once a month.
• Reviews reports of inspection, accident investigations and implementation of program.
• Submits all mandatory reports periodically and regularly on OSH meetings and activities to DOLE.
• Provides necessary assistance to government inspecting authorities in the proper conduct of their activities.
• Initiates and supervises training for employees.
• Help develops and maintains a disaster contingency plan and organizes such emergency service units.
• Establishes and adopts in writing administrative policies on safety in conformity.
• Reports to the enforcing authority copies of the policies adopted and the health and safety organization established to carry out the program on safety and health.
• Reports to the health and safety program of the organization out-lining the activities undertaken including its safety performance, health and safety.
• Acts in an advisory capacity on all matters pertaining to health and safety for the guidance of the employer and the workers.
• Conducts investigation of accidents as member of the Health and Safety Committee and submits his separate report and analysis of accidents.
• Coordinates all health and safety training programs for the employees and employer.
• Conducts health and safety inspection as member of the committee.
• Maintains or helps in the maintenance of an efficient accident record system and coordinates actions taken by supervisors to eliminate accident causes.
• Provides assistance to government agencies in the conduct of safety and health inspection, accident investigation or any other related programs.
