Power BI Analyst & Dashboard Developer
Job Type:
Contract | Full-Time Hours | Remote / Work From HomeBusiness Intelligence | Data Analytics | Power BI
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly analytical Power BI Analyst & Dashboard Developer to support a data-driven behavioral health organization.
This is a high-impact analytics role where your work directly influences executive decisions, operational strategy, and patient outcomes.
This is not a basic reporting role — we are looking for someone who goes beyond visualization and actively questions data integrity, investigates inconsistencies, and ensures every dashboard is accurate before it reaches leadership.
If you are someone who pauses a report when something feels off and digs deeper instead of pushing it forward, this role is built for you.
Role Overview
The Power BI Analyst & Dashboard Developer will integrate and analyze data from multiple systems including EMR, CRM, survey tools, and operational databases.
You will design and maintain executive dashboards that transform complex data into clear, actionable insights for leadership teams.
This role is analyst-first, developer-second — technical Power BI skills are essential, but your critical thinking, validation discipline, and curiosity about data accuracy are what will set you apart.
Key Responsibilities
Data Validation & Analytical Thinking (Primary Focus)- Validate datasets for completeness, accuracy, and logical consistency before dashboard development
- Identify anomalies, outliers, and questionable patterns in data
- Treat missing or “unknown” data categories as investigation points, not defaults
- Reconcile data against operational reality and flag inconsistencies immediately
- Document data quality issues, assumptions, and limitations for every report
- Challenge unclear or flawed data requests before building solutions
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards for executive and department-level reporting
- Use DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling best practices
- Connect Power BI to multiple data sources including APIs, SQL, ODBC, and file-based systems
- Automate dashboard refreshes and troubleshoot failures
- Analyze key metrics such as admissions, conversions, outcomes, revenue, and engagement
- Translate business questions into structured, actionable dashboards
- Integrate data from EMR, CRM, and other operational systems
- Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting needs
- Maintain structured and scalable data models
- Ensure data pipelines are reliable and well-documented
- Document all data sources, transformations, and reporting logic
- Maintain data dictionaries and refresh schedules
- Conduct recurring audits of data quality across systems
- Produce ad hoc reports with clearly defined assumptions and methodology
- Participate in scheduled meetings aligned with business hours
- Work closely with leadership and non-technical stakeholders
- Communicate findings clearly in written and verbal formats
- Provide insights that support decision-making at the executive level
- Maintain compliance with healthcare data security protocols (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2)
First 90-Day Deliverable
You will be expected to deliver a fully functional Marketing & Lead Analytics Platform, including:
- End-to-end lead funnel reporting (inquiry → admission)
- Conversion rates and drop-off analysis by stage
- Source and channel attribution with clear rules
- Marketing spend and ROI tracking (cost per lead, cost per admission)
- Cohort analysis by month and campaign
- Data dictionary and refresh documentation
- Fully validated and reconciled datasets with limitations clearly documented
- Two structured handoff sessions with leadership
- You instinctively question whether data “makes sense” before publishing
- You are comfortable investigating anomalies instead of ignoring them
- You have deep Power BI expertise (DAX, Power Query, data modeling, RLS, Service)
- You are confident writing SQL for data extraction and analysis
- You have experience integrating multiple data sources into reporting systems
- You understand healthcare or sensitive operational data environments
- You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You are proactive, self-managed, and deadline-driven
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Health Informatics, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience building production Power BI dashboards
- Microsoft PL-300 certification (preferred)
- Experience integrating Power BI with at least 3 data sources (CRM, EMR, financial, etc.)
- Proven experience identifying and resolving data quality issues
- Ability to work full-time aligned with U.S. Mountain Time (Arizona)
- Secure remote work environment (private workspace required)
- High-speed internet (minimum 50 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload)
- Ability to use encrypted devices, VPN, MFA authentication
- Strict compliance with HIPAA and healthcare data security standards
- Willingness to sign NDA, Independent Contractor Agreement, and BAA
- Completion of required compliance training prior to system access
- You don’t trust dashboards blindly — you verify them
- You value accuracy over speed when data is questionable
- You think like an investigator, not just a developer
- You build reporting systems that leadership can confidently rely on
- You take ownership of data quality from end to end
- Location: Remote / Work From Home
- Job Type: Contract | Full-Time Hours
- Schedule: U.S. business hours (Arizona / Mountain Time alignment)
