Job Summary:
The Farm Operations Assistant is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality fresh produce and meat products directly from farms and suppliers to support retail operations. This role ensures consistent supply, competitive pricing, and compliance with quality and food safety standards.The ideal candidate has an agriculture background and hands-on experience in farm sourcing and procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and establish relationships with farmers, growers, and meat suppliers
- Procure fresh produce and meat products based on retail demand and inventory requirements
- Conduct supplier evaluations to ensure quality, pricing, and reliability standards are met
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers
- Monitor market trends, seasonal availability, and pricing fluctuations
- Ensure all products meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for timely delivery and proper handling
- Perform regular farm visits and supplier audits
- Manage purchase orders, documentation, and inventory planning
- Resolve supply issues, shortages, or quality concerns promptly
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Animal Science, or related field; fresh graduate are welcome to apply!
- With experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in farm produce or meat sourcing for retail is a plus
- Strong knowledge of fresh produce and meat supply chains
- Familiarity with food safety standards and quality control practices
- Experience dealing directly with farmers and suppliers
