The Procurement Engineer – HV/MV Electrical supports procurement activities for solar farm and BESS projects across Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on high- and medium-voltage electrical equipment. Working remotely, the role assists project teams with sourcing suppliers, evaluating quotations, coordinating procurement documentation, and ensuring technical and commercial compliance for electrical infrastructure packages.

Job Description:

  • Support procurement delivery in line with project schedules and technical requirements.
  • Identify and engage suppliers for HV/MV equipment including transformers, switchgear, cables, protection systems, and balance-of-plant electrical components.
  • Prepare RFQs and tender packages for electrical equipment and services.
  • Conduct technical and commercial bid evaluations against project specifications.
  • Assist with pricing analysis, comparisons, and supplier recommendations.
  • Support issuance and tracking of purchase orders.
  • Monitor supplier documentation, manufacturing progress, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain procurement databases and documentation.
  • Source supplier pricing for HV/MV equipment and installation packages.
  • Support bid teams with cost data, technical comparisons, and supplier options.
  • Assist in developing procurement strategies during tender phases.
  • Provide benchmarking of electrical equipment pricing across suppliers.
  • Track procurement progress and report updates to the Procurement Manager.
  • Assist with cost tracking and variance monitoring.
  • Liaise with engineering and project teams to confirm material requirements.
  • Ensure procurement activities align with construction timelines.
  • Escalate issues to the Procurement Manager for resolution.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, integrity, and respect.
  • Share knowledge and assist with team training and development where appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring that decisions are made within approved business unit budget and financial delegated authority.
  • Provide regular reporting to Manager on status of all work (as relevant).

  • Proactively identify and eliminate hazards and contribute to the work environment to ensure safety measures are in place, compliant and operational.

  • Strong focus on identifying and suggesting ways to improve practices and processes that are hampering the smooth operation of the day to day running of the project.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to save unnecessary costs to the project (without compromising quality).
  • Contribute to the project review process, ensuring problems identified and possible solutions developed and feedback to operations team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Business or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in a procurement or supply chain role, ideally within construction or renewable energy, control systems or automation projects
  • Experience issuing and managing RFQs, purchase orders, and basic supplier agreements
  • Understanding of SCADA, communications infrastructure, or industrial control systems
  • Understanding of procurement documentation, technical specifications, and construction drawings
  • Experience with ERP or procurement systems
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and ability to work remotely with international teams
