- Transaction Processing: Scan items, verify prices/quantities, and calculate totals using point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash registers, or scanners.
- Payment Collection: Accept cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and mobile payments. Count money, provide exact change, and issue receipts.
- Customer Service: Welcome customers, assist with inquiries, and resolve complaints or concerns in a polite and professional manner.
- Till Management: Count the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts to balance sales, generate reports, and prepare bank deposits.
- Store Policies: Apply coupons and discounts, verify customer age for restricted items (e.g., alcohol or tobacco), and process returns or exchanges.
- Merchandise Handling: Bag or wrap purchased goods, and occasionally restock shelves or clean the checkout area.
- Upselling: Suggest new products or inform customers about ongoing promotions when appropriate.
- At least Highschool or Senior High School graduate
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash registers, barcode scanners and card terminals
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
- Clear verbal communication to explain store policies, product details, or promotions
- Customer service skills to maintain positive customer relationships, encourage customer loyalty and resolve conflicts.
