We are seeking a dedicated and driven Public Sector Associate to join our team in Cebu. In this role, you will be immersed in the full audit engagement process, building a strong foundation in public sector accounting standards and governmental financial reporting for North American entities.Operating directly out of our premium Cebu facility, you will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to meaningful compliance engagements while developing the deep technical acumen essential for a successful career in public accounting.
Your Impact- Engagement Contributor & Executor: Participate directly in audit engagements that deepen your public accounting knowledge. Perform rigorous external audit testing procedures on financial statements, fund balances, and internal controls to ensure compliance with professional standards.
- Data Interpreter: Identify, measure, document, and analyze complex governmental financial data to support informed audit conclusions, track variances, and structure clear testing recommendations.
- Client Collaborator: Develop and apply professional communication skills to work proactively with client staff, gathering required financial schedules, invoices, and general ledger reports in an organized and efficient manner.
- Budget Steward: Gain a working understanding of how project engagement budgets relate to firm financial performance, learning to manage your personal billable hours responsibly against established timelines.
- Firm & Community Ambassador: Cultivate a thorough understanding of the firm's professional capabilities and client service philosophy. Represent corporate values in every interaction and engage with professional community networking opportunities to broaden your civic impact.
- The Experience: 1 to 2 years of public accounting external audit experience, demonstrating a solid grasp of core auditing principles, substantiation testing, and professional workpaper documentation.
- The Credentials: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required; a Master's degree is preferred, reflecting a strong commitment to academic and professional excellence.
- Certification Standing: An active CPA certification or CPA eligibility with the board examination currently in progress is required.
- Governmental Standards Acumen (Preferred): Foundational knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS / Yellow Book), reflecting familiarity with the compliance-heavy public sector audit environment.
- GASB Proficiency (Preferred): A working understanding of GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) Basic Financial Statements for State and Local Governments, enabling effective application on relevant fund accounting engagements.
- Risk Awareness (Preferred): Conceptual knowledge of internal control risk assessments within a governmental or institutional environment, supporting sound judgment during audit testing.
- Communication Excellence: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ledger information clearly and professionally to diverse stakeholders.
- Professional Character: A highly dedicated individual with a positive attitude, a collaborative team-player mindset, and a demonstrated eagerness to take initiative and grow.
