About the ROLE
5 ELK is looking for an Operations Assistant to join a well-established Australian services business operating nationwide in the building and maintenance space.
In this role you will become part of a close-knit team of around 20 people, working alongside management and contractors to keep business operations organised, compliant, and running smoothly. This is a role for someone experienced, dependable, and comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision.
What YOU’LL DO- Prepare and maintain call centre reports, including hours worked and income tracking
- Update and manage Operations and Total Invoiced reports on a daily basis
- Ensure business licences are current and properly documented
- Organise and maintain company insurance policies, including liability, management, and vehicle insurance
- Send insurance documents and certificates to customers to meet compliance requirements
- Check PO boxes and assist with banking tasks as required
- Prepare and manage Workers Compensation lodgements and claims
- Coordinate with legal and debt collection offices for outstanding matters
- Support purchasing of materials, stock, and consumables, including inventory tracking
- Monitor stock levels and place orders when needed
- Liaise with migration agents regarding sponsored visas
- Help organise staff and management meetings
- Maintain records for company vehicles, including documentation, registrations, and servicing
- Handle ad-hoc operational requests from Directors and support the wider business as needed
- A Bachelor’s degree
- At least 5 years’ experience in operations, administration,or office support roles
- A mature, dependable professional who values consistency and accountability
- Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
- Able to work independently and autonomously without daily supervision
- Punctual, reliable, and well-organised
- Confident handling compliance-, finance-, and documentation-heavy tasks
- Comfortable working with reports, internal systems, and trackers
- High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive business information
- Enjoys structure, routine, and having responsibility
- Takes pride in doing things properly and on time
- Prefers a stable, long-term role over constant change
- Is happy being the operational backbone of a small team
