About the Role
The Commissioning and Technical Administrator job is to support our Commissioning, Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB), and Kitchen Energy Solutions (KES) operations providing commissioning project administration and technical documentation development.
In the commissioning capacity, this role supports the Chief Technical Officer and project teams by managing documentation workflows, tracking project deliverables, and providing technical review and coordination support across active commissioning engagements.In the technical administration capacity, this role’s responsibilities include researching, writing, designing, and maintaining the full range of technical documents that support our client’s and KES operations: field manuals, instructional guides, training materials, and multimedia learning content.
What you’ll do- Commissioning Administration
- Serve as the primary point of coordination for commissioning project documentation, maintaining a clear, current picture of all submittals, outstanding deliverables, and upcoming deadlines across active projects.
- Manage the full commissioning documentation workflow from project kickoff through closeout, ensuring all deliverables are tracked, submitted on schedule, and properly filed.
- Assist in the development, review, and quality control of commissioning plans, pre- functional checklists, and functional performance test (FPT) procedures.
- Provide technical support on mechanical and electrical commissioning projects, including review of design drawings, submittals, sequences of operation, and system specifications.
- Communicate directly with internal project teams, Mechanical Contractors, Control
- Contractors and General Contractors, to facilitate the timely completion of commissioning milestones.
- Maintain project tracking systems and document control databases to support the Chief Technical Officer and project managers in monitoring project health and deliverable status.
- Support quality control reviews of completed commissioning documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project-specific standards.
- Prepare commissioning reports and project closeout packages.
- Technical Administration
- Assist in the research, writing, and development of technical documents across all service lines, including TAB procedures, mechanical and electrical commissioning processes, building envelope testing, and kitchen hood / DCKV systems.
- Assist in the design, production, and maintaining field manuals and spreadsheets used by technicians as practical, on-the-job reference tools — ensuring content is accurate, clearly written, and formatted for use in the field.
- Develop instructional and training documents covering technical procedures, equipment operation, safety requirements, and company standards for use by TAB technicians, commissioning personnel, KES installation staff, and office staff performing technical work.
- Assist in creating and maintaining training content, including instructional and training videos, to support skills development and ongoing technical education across both divisions.
- Develop and maintain standardized company submittals and report forms, checklists, and templates.
- Assist in the creation and organization of safety training content and compliance materials to support regulatory and company safety requirements.
- Maintain structured records of technician development progress, competency milestones, certifications, production, and quality documentation to ensure proper technician development.
- 1-3 years of experience in commissioning, mechanical/electrical commissioning, or building systems commissioning a plus.
- Computer competency, as our firm utilizes AI tools to create and review documents as part of the position.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical construction documents, design drawings, and equipment submittals.
- Demonstrated ability to research, write, and produce clear, accurate technical documents for a technical audience, including procedures, manuals, guides, and reference materials.
- Experience managing or coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, with strong follow-through on deliverables and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, production of professional technical documents and training materials.
- Experience in maintaining document control systems, project tracking databases, or structured technical resource libraries.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical content into clear, usable materials.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
