Job Overview:

The technologist ensures accuracy, reliability, and efficiency in the conduct of laboratory examinations while upholding safety, quality control, and patient confidentiality standards.

This position plays a vital role in supporting clinical decisions through timely and accurate laboratory results, contributing directly to patient care and hospital service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect and prepare patient specimens (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) following standard procedures and safety protocols.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures with accuracy and professionalism.
• Conduct a wide range of laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, immunology, microbiology, and blood banking.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; ensure proper calibration and functionality.
• Adhere strictly to test turnaround times to support clinical workflows.
• Interpret results accurately and report findings promptly to the appropriate medical personnel.
• Participate in proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparisons to uphold testing quality.
• Check and document internal quality control performance for all laboratory tests.
• Participate in the investigation and documentation of nonconformities or test discrepancies.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory work area in accordance with infection control standards.
• Ensure that all laboratory procedures and practices comply with institutional protocols, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT)
• Registered Medical Technologist (RMT)
• 1–2 years' experience in a tertiary hospital (preferred)
• HIV proficiency (optional)
• Drug Testing training (optional)
