Accounting Officer

Job Description:

• Assists the Lead, Project Accounting in reviewing project financial statements, including the preparation and analysis of accruals, variance analysis, and supporting schedules/notes.
• Supports the implementation and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Project Accountants.
• Assists in training Project Accountants and in communicating/cascading new or updated guidelines that impact accounting processes at project/job sites.
• Ensures compliance with the company’s safety and health standards, operating procedures, and regulations.
• Actively supports and implements the Environmental Management System relevant to the role.
• Strictly adheres to company policies and procedures, Employee Code of Ethics and Conduct, and principles of Corporate Governance.
• Protects the company’s intellectual property, proprietary information, and confidential data at all times.
• Ensures all project disbursements (payments, advances, etc.) are recorded accurately and on time.
• Collates bank statements/passbooks and reviews uploaded bank transactions/templates for completeness and accuracy.
• Monitors cleared and uncleared bank transactions; follows up and assists Project Accountants in clearing long-outstanding items.
• Reviews bank reconciliation statements prepared by Project Accountants and consolidates the master bank reconciliation schedule.
• Conducts surprise cash counts at project sites, monitors the issuance and liquidation/closing of Petty Cash Funds (PCF), enforces petty cash guidelines, and ensures compliance by Project Accountants and Cashiers.
• Prepares and monitors schedules of non-trade payables, outstanding cash advances, BCR/UCR, Retention Receivable, Advances from Contracts, and Down Payments from Contracts.
• Reviews and clears long-outstanding Accounts Payable items.
• Handles Salary Cost Distribution (SCD) for supervisory, regular, and non-regular employees across projects.
• Performs monthly reconciliation of actual project costs versus COC-JIP (Cost of Contract – Job in Progress).
• Acts as Project Accountant and Cashier for small-scale or short-duration projects (or when the assigned accountant/cashier resigns), including transacting various accounting entries and preparing complete project financial statements.
• Reviews posted transactions for validity, reasonableness, and compliance with accounting policies.
• Prepares summaries of irregularities encountered in posted transactions and proposes appropriate resolutions.
• Prepares monthly and year-to-date summaries of project expenses by vendor and by expense classification.
• Evaluates existing internal control procedures at project sites and recommends improvements to strengthen financial operations and minimize risks.
• Ensures timely posting of supplier advances, down payments, and all foreign-currency or dollar transactions.
• Complies with safety, health, environmental, ethical, and governance policies of the company and protects confidential and proprietary information.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm
