Manager – Tax Advisory

Key Duties & Responsibilities

As a Manager, you will:

• Manage one or more client engagements or components of large-scale projects
• Deliver high-quality Australian tax advice to a diverse client portfolio, including:
• SMEs
• Family businesses
• Trusts and partnerships
• Foreign subsidiaries
• Small listed entities
• Ensure compliance with Australian tax laws while identifying and applying tax efficiency opportunities
• Conduct research and analysis to support strategic tax planning initiatives
• Play a key role across the full client engagement lifecycle, including:
• Regular client interaction
• Attending client meetings and presentations with senior leaders
• Mentor and support junior team members, fostering continuous professional development
• Contribute to engagement management, including tracking performance against revenue and profitability targets
• Support collaboration and knowledge sharing across the practice

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Demonstrated exposure to Australian taxation and accounting legislation
• Strong technical knowledge in:
• Tax compliance
• Tax advisory
• Accounting standards
• 4–5 years of experience in a tax consulting or advisory environment
• CA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification
• A relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualification
• Strong ability to analyze, simplify, and communicate complex concepts clearly (written and verbal)

Must-Have Requirements:

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum of 3+ years of Australian-equivalent experience in public practice (AU tax accounting)
• Strong hands-on experience in:
• Preparation of financial statements
• Preparation of workpapers
• Preparation of income tax returns
• Practical application of Australian tax legislation
• Proven experience working with SME to mid-market clients within an accounting firm environment
• Direct client exposure handling businesses with AUD 5M–10M annual turnover
