Purchasing is responsible for managing supplier relations at a tactical level, may negotiate product cost, and utilizing terms and conditions, working with internal customers to reduce product cost, improve the supply chain and evaluate supplier performance, and executing purchase orders and manages raw material inventory.
Job Summary
The Senior Specialist, Purchasing supports indirect purchasing for the organization. This job supports supplier master data, general procurement operations, and supporting internal Cardinal Health purchasing tools. This job is a support role for global purchasing.The job specifically supports the supplier data management. This job supports master product data for indirect suppliers by creating and maintaining supplier data, owning and participating in select tasks such as reporting and auditing, projects (such as acquisitions), training and documentation management, being a subject matter expert and consultant for higher level issues, and GMB management.
Responsibilities- Communicates with suppliers regarding updates to master product data specifications and relevant information points.
- Creates new supplier master data entries for new products and items.
- Audits databases, testing data for consistency, and correcting data inconsistencies.
- Documents policies and procedures for bid proposals and procurement of goods and services.
- Resolves customer/internal questions regarding master data management.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sourcing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, or Accounting) or equivalent work experience preferred
- 2–4 years of relevant professional experience required
- Proficiency in Excel, including working with large datasets and pivot tables
- Exposure to tools such as SAP, Tableau, and PowerPoint is an advantage
- Applies working knowledge in the application of concepts, principles and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks
- Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity
- Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes action to resolve
- Applies judgment within defined parameters
- Receives general guidance and may receive more detailed instruction on new projects
- Work reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy
