Food service dispatcher

Job Description

• Schedule and dispatch drivers, vehicles, or service personnel according to customer needs and service priorities
• Communicate with drivers via phone or radio to provide updates, route changes, and instructions
• Monitor the status and location of all vehicles to ensure timely delivery and adherence to schedules
• Maintain logs of driver routes, delivery times, mileage, fuel usage, and service records
• Address and resolve delivery or route issues, including delays, vehicle breakdowns, or emergency requests
• Prepare and manage dispatch documentation such as work orders, trip reports, and delivery confirmations
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., warehouse, customer service) to ensure smooth operations
• Monitor and enforce compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and transportation regulations

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree is a plus
• Previous experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role preferred
• Knowledge of transportation logistics and geographic areas served
• Proficiency with dispatch or fleet management software and basic computer applications
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends or holidays if required
