About the Client: A growing hospitality organization that owns and operates a portfolio of hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues, committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence.
Overview: We're looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to own the accounting function for a waterpark operating asset. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this role owns the month-end close, delivers accurate financial reporting and analysis to leadership and ownership, and maintains a strong internal control environment.It is ideal for a hands-on
manager who can both review the details and elevate the numbers into insight.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Review
Supervise, mentor, and develop staff accountant(s) supporting the waterparkReview and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting workpapers prepared by staff
Own and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close calendar, ensuring deadlines are met
Review the financial package for accuracy and completeness before it is distributed to leadership and ownership
Financial Reporting & AnalysisConduct variance analysis (budget vs. actual) and provide insights to leadership
Generate and present timely, accurate reporting for internal stakeholders and ownership
Analyze financial data to identify trends and operational efficiencies
Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and profitability improvements
Budgeting, Forecasting & ControlsLead the annual budget process and periodic forecasts in partnership with operations
Own cash flow forecasting and monitor liquidity across the portfolio
Maintain and enforce internal controls and company accounting policies
Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
Accounting OversightOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and billing processes
Oversee waterpark and revenue accounting, including Attendance/POS reconciliation
Ensure all accounting activities comply with GAAP standards
Review and approve vendor payments and disbursements above established thresholds
Audit & ComplianceManage any annual audits, coordinate the prepared-by-client (PBC) list, and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and waterpark regulations
Complete state sales tax filings
Qualifications:
EducationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
CPA strongly preferred
Experience6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and ownership of month-end close
2+ years supervising or reviewing the work of other accountants
Waterpark or attractions industry experience strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
Technical SkillsStrong command of GAAP and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, modeling, analysis)
Experience with the Oracle NetSuite accounting system
Experience with the RocketRez system and Toast Point of Sale system
Ability to own the general ledger, financial statements, and the close process
Leadership & Operational SkillsProven ability to manage, review, and develop accounting staff
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a process-improvement mindset
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Collaboration & CommunicationStrong cross-functional partnership with operations, front office, leadership, and ownership
Ability to translate financial data into actionable insight for non-financial stakeholders
High attention to detail, organization, and accountability for team deliverables
