Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Japanese cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations, and will be committed to delivering high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Assist in the preparation of Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, ramen, and grilled items
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstation
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in stock rotation (FIFO)
- Coordinate with kitchen team members to ensure timely food service
- Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries
- Properly store ingredients and maintain freshness standards
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Line Cook in a Japanese restaurant
- Knowledge of Japanese ingredients, preparation techniques, and kitchen tools
- Experience in sushi or hot/cold kitchen stations is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
