Project Engineer — Power Solutions
Specialization: Renewable Energy & Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Industry: Power Solutions | Philippines
Role Overview
The Project Engineer (Power Solutions) is responsible for the technical planning, execution, and commissioning of renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) charging port projects across the Philippines. Working within the Power Solutions Division, this role ensures all installations — from solar PV systems and energy storage to EV charging infrastructure — are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with Philippine electrical standards. The ideal candidate is a licensed Electrical Engineer with a strong passion for clean energy and emerging power technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Engineering- Review and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, solar layout plans, and EV charging system schematics.
- Prepare detailed project plans, work schedules, material lists, and method statements for renewable energy and EV charging installations.
- Conduct site surveys and load assessments to determine system sizing, technical requirements, and installation constraints.
- Develop and submit shop drawings, as-built plans, material submittals, and technical documentation for client and consultant approval.
- Ensure all designs comply with the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), DOE regulations, distribution utility interconnection requirements, and applicable international standards (IEC, NEC).
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems — rooftop, ground-mounted, and carport configurations.
- Supervise the installation of battery energy storage systems (BESS), inverters, charge controllers, and monitoring systems.
- Coordinate with distribution utilities (MERALCO and other DUs) for grid interconnection, net metering applications, and technical inspections.
- Ensure compliance with ERC, DOE, and utility-specific requirements for renewable energy installations.
- Conduct performance testing and energy yield verification upon project completion.
- Manage the end-to-end installation of EV charging ports — Level 2 AC chargers and DC fast chargers across commercial, residential, and industrial sites.
- Assess site electrical capacity, conduct load flow analysis, and recommend necessary panel upgrades or dedicated circuit installations.
- Coordinate with property developers, building administrators, and utility companies for EV charging system integration and compliance.
- Ensure EV charging installations align with DOE EVIDA (Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act) guidelines and relevant electrical codes.
- Support clients in understanding charging system operations, load management features, and smart charging capabilities.
- Supervise on-site electrical installation works — power distribution, wiring systems, panels, switchgear, transformers, inverters, and EV charging equipment.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel to ensure work is executed per approved plans and specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, safety compliance, and project milestones.
- Identify and resolve technical issues and site challenges promptly to prevent delays.
- Enforce occupational health and safety standards throughout all project sites.
- Prepare bills of quantities (BOQ), material requisitions, and technical specifications for procurement of solar, BESS, and EV charging equipment.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals for technical compliance and cost efficiency.
- Coordinate material and equipment delivery schedules in alignment with project timelines.
- Monitor material consumption and flag shortages or substitution requirements to the project team.
- Lead testing, inspection, and commissioning of all installed renewable energy and EV charging systems.
- Prepare and submit commissioning reports, system performance documentation, and punch list resolutions.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies, building officials, and utility companies for required inspections, permits, and approvals.
- Facilitate formal project turnover and client acceptance — ensuring all technical documentation, warranties, and O&M manuals are complete and properly endorsed.
- Track project milestones, costs, and progress against the approved project plan and budget.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager and senior management.
- Identify project risks and recommend mitigation measures to avoid cost overruns or delays.
- Maintain complete and organized project records — contracts, permits, correspondence, and all technical documents.
