Industry: Power Solutions | Philippines

Role Overview

The Project Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for the technical execution and management of electrical power projects from award through commissioning and handover. Working within the Power Solutions Division, this role ensures that all electrical installations — including power distribution systems, renewable energy setups, EV charging infrastructure, and related works — are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with Philippine electrical standards and codes.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Electrical Engineer with hands-on project experience in the Philippine power industry.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Engineering
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Prepare detailed project plans, work schedules, material lists, and method statements for electrical works.
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine project requirements and technical constraints.
  • Develop and submit shop drawings, as-built plans, material submittals, and technical documents for client and consultant approval.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), utility requirements, and applicable international standards.
Project Execution & Site Management
  • Oversee and supervise on-site electrical installation works — power distribution, wiring systems, panels, switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel to ensure work is executed according to approved plans and specifications.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, safety compliance, and project progress.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and site challenges promptly to avoid project delays.
  • Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards throughout project execution.
Procurement & Resource Coordination
  • Prepare bills of quantities (BOQ), material requisitions, and technical specifications for procurement.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals for technical compliance and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules of materials and equipment to align with project timelines.
  • Monitor material consumption and flag shortages or substitutions to the project team.
Commissioning & Turnover
  • Lead the testing, inspection, and commissioning of all installed electrical systems and equipment.
  • Prepare and submit commissioning reports, punch list resolutions, and completion documentation.
  • Coordinate with utility companies, building officials, and regulatory bodies for inspections and permits.
  • Facilitate formal project turnover and client acceptance, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track project milestones, progress, and expenditures against the approved project plan and budget.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager and senior management.
  • Identify project risks early and recommend mitigation measures to avoid cost overruns or delays.
  • Maintain complete and organized project records — contracts, permits, correspondence, and technical documents.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Coordinate closely with the Sales, Design, and Procurement teams for project requirements and change orders.
  • Attend project meetings, site coordination meetings, and progress reviews with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Support the team in preparing variation orders and change order documentation when project scope changes.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BS EE) — required
  • Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) or Registered Master Electrician (RME) — required
  • Valid PRC license in good standing
Experience
  • 2–5 years of project engineering experience in the Philippine electrical or power industry
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: power distribution systems, solar or renewable energy installations, EV charging infrastructure, industrial electrical works, or building electrical systems
  • Experience coordinating with MERALCO, distribution utilities, or government regulatory bodies is an advantage
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) and utility interconnection requirements
  • Proficient in reading and preparing electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and as-built plans
  • Familiarity with solar PV systems, battery energy storage, EV charging infrastructure, or LV/MV power systems is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project, or equivalent engineering software
  • Proficient in MS Office — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills — able to manage contractors, clients, and consultants effectively
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and report-writing habits
