Job Information
Job Description- Cargo Operations: Plans and supervises the stowage, loading, and unloading of cargo. They ensure all cargo is transported according to international regulations.
- Vessel Stability: Calculations for stability, trim, and ballast operations (adding or removing water to balance the ship) are critical tasks overseen by the Chief Officer.
- Maintenance: Oversees the upkeep of the ship's hull, deck structures, and accommodation areas, as well as cargo handling gear like cranes.
- Safety & Security: Acting as the Ship Security Officer (SSO), they oversee security measures. They are also responsible for maintaining all life-saving and firefighting appliances.
- Watchkeeping: Typically stands the 04:00 to 08:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 navigation watches.
- Crew Management: Schedules work for the deck crew, conducts training, and ensures compliance with maritime standards like SOLAS, MARPOL, and STCW.
Skills and Qualifications:
AT LEAST 18 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS CHIEF OFFICER
WITH OR WITHOUT VALID US VISA
HOLDING VALID DOCUMENTS
