Job Description:

The position is for a Structural Steel Estimator, required to generate and formulate quotes and estimates for clients for commercial & industrial structural steel buildings. This position would be best suited to an individual which is self-driven and confident in your ability, with experience in structural steel estimating, Quanty Surveying or Structural Steel Detailer type roles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Precisely measure and calculate the quantities of steel required for a project, including members, connections, and paint finishes.
• Clearly communicate estimates and project information to clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to read and interpret tender documents, construction drawings and project scopes.
• Estimating and costing all material, labour, plant, and equipment to carry out structural steel works for any project.
• Develop and identify the scope of the works, ensuring compliance with budgets and estimates.
• Interpret/analyse tender documentation, structural and architectural drawings and specific project requirements to ensure quotations are completed to a high standard.
• Working with the management team to implement sales strategies and procedures to ensure project profitability.

Qualification and requirements:

• Must have excellent communication skills, both written & verbal.
• Must be able to read and interpret tender documents, structural & architectural drawings and project specifications.
• Must have advanced experienced in the structural steel fabrication industry or have experience with the implementation and undertaking of take offs and costs estimations within the construction or fabrication type business.
• Must be able to work as a team and or individually as required.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and work on several different projects at any one time.
• Have an understanding of Aconex, Teambinder, Estimate One and the full Microsoft Office Suite and other general projects systems used. - (Preferred)
• Good attention to detail with excellent time management skills, self-driven have and the ability to work under pressure.

Non-negotiable skills and requirements:

• Fabrication, Structural Steel or Construction Experience: 2 years+ experience (Essential)
• Have experience working in a structural steel / construction type business.
• Basic understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices including knowledge of structural shapes and general industry terminology.
• Tertiary training in either Project Cost Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Construction Management, Contracts Administration, Shop Drafting or similar back group required.

Non-negotiable skills & requirements:
