Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Controller to support a U.S.-based SaaS/technology company serving mission-critical, compliance-sensitive industries across multiple business entities. This role focuses on overseeing full-cycle accounting operations, maintaining accurate and audit-ready financial records, supporting cash flow visibility and financial reporting, and helping leadership improve financial processes and operational efficiency.

This is a hands-on operating finance role, not an external audit or compliance-only role. We are looking for someone who has directly managed accounting operations inside small to mid-sized businesses and can independently own the month-end close, reporting, reconciliations, cash flow visibility, and day-to-day finance workflow.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, tech-forward, and comfortable using modern accounting systems, AI tools, and automation solutions to optimize workflows and improve efficiency. Strong communication skills, accountability, and the ability to follow through on tasks independently are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly accounting operations across multiple business entities using Zoho Books and supporting tools.
• Manage full-cycle accounting processes including journal entries, accruals, amortizations, reconciliations, and adjustments while ensuring proper classification.
• Conduct month-end close and prepare reconciliations, supporting schedules, and audit-ready financial statements.
• Produce and analyze P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and variance analyses.
• Monitor financial performance, cash flow activity, expenditures, and operational trends across businesses.
• Identify discrepancies, financial risks, or workflow inefficiencies proactively and escalate when needed.

• Document, standardize, and improve accounting workflows to optimize accuracy, organization, and efficiency.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and cash management processes.
• Coordinate with bookkeepers or support staff to ensure transactional accuracy and timely completion of accounting tasks.
• Leverage AI and automation tools (e.g., Claude AI or similar platforms) to streamline accounting and reporting workflows.
• Maintain clean and organized charts of accounts and structured accounting procedures.

• Partner closely with the CEO and fractional CFO to support financial oversight, operational reporting, and business decision-making.
• Communicate proactively regarding timelines, priorities, blockers, and financial concerns.
• Support ad hoc financial requests, reporting needs, and operational analysis from leadership.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and IT/process teams regarding financial systems and workflow improvements.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 7+ years of senior accounting/finance experience inside operating companies, not primarily external audit.
• Proven ownership of month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, cash flow tracking, and day-to-day accounting operations.
• Strong experience managing full-cycle U.S. accounting operations for small to mid-sized businesses.
• Proficient in Zoho Books / Zoho Finance or equivalent cloud accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting aligned with U.S. night shift hours.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of taking ownership with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable working with modern systems, automation tools, and AI-assisted workflows.

• Experience supporting multiple businesses or entities simultaneously.
• Experience in SaaS, technology, healthcare, or service-based businesses.
• Familiarity with process documentation, workflow standardization, and internal controls.
• Exposure to AI-driven accounting solutions, automation tools, or tech-enabled finance workflows.
• Experience collaborating directly with business owners, CEOs, or fractional CFOs.
• Experience producing financial reports, cash flow analysis, accruals, and operational financial insights for leadership teams.
• CPA license or equivalent certification is a plus.
