- At least 6 months of experience in medical records
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent data entry skills
- Superior customer service abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
- Maintain the master patient index by completing daily audit trails and correcting discrepancies
- Initiate and process patient care record folders
- Ensure record availability through chart processing and tracking procedures
- Inform healthcare providers of record availability and status
- Request, upload, and log medical records
- Assist the billing department with record requests
- Review records for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance
- Prepare medical records for insurance submission
- Document actions, irregularities, and follow-ups to maintain continuity
- Follow HIPAA policies to protect patient information
- Perform other duties as assigned
