Investment Manager
Job purpose:
The primary purpose is to ensure the General Account portfolios (Life and GI) earn sufficient returns to pay policyholder liabilities and shareholder dividends. This involves direct portfolio management, robust investment research and reporting, introduction of new investment outlets/asset classes, and updating of policies and manuals.
Critical Accountabilities
Portfolio Management
§ Ensure the Non-linked funds can fund the policy liabilities and other cash outflows with an Asset-Liability Management perspective for portfolio management
§ Achieve at least benchmark return with no breach in risk limits as defined in the Risk Appetite Framework
§ Ensure investment portfolio’s compliance with regulatory requirements, Non-Linked Investment Policy, and Risk Appetite Framework
§ Monitoring and efficient management of liquidity
§ Working closely with the ALM team to optimize asset-liability matching by understanding product level design and characteristics
Introduction of new investment outlets/asset classes and investment strategies to optimize liability hedging and NII
§ Research on alternative ways to (1) improve asset-liability matching (2) uplift net investment income
§ Scout with counterparties on options for additional asset classes
Updating of Investment Manual and Policies
§ Update the policy and manual in line with current and/or ideal practice and consistent with Group standards
Management Reporting
Provide views on asset classes and investment strategies
§ Collaborate with the rest of the Investment Team in identifying areas of opportunities in current market conditions
§ ESG oversight of Non-Linked investment accounts using standard AXA Group level scoring methodologies
§ Provide ESG related market developments with management
Support to internal stakeholders
§ Create and occasionally present regular market updates in monthly business review meetings
§ Investment Expense study
§ Discount rate computation in Annual Impairment Exercise
§ Collaborating with internal counterparties to optimize asset liability matching by providing the IALM team’s input on model return assumptions and market scenarios (eg. Dividends, ECR Runs, etc)

Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Management/Accounting, Business Administration; can consider other degrees if there are accompanying certifications and relevant work experience
Certifications like CFA, FRM, Ateneo-BAP’s TCP, TOAP’s TIFP, PSE Securities Specialist, are an advantage
Relevant Experience
At least 4 years of work experience as an Investment/Credit Analyst, Credit or Corporate Banking or Broker/dealer in a financial institution (bank or a brokerage company) or Research Analyst in an Asset Management company or Trader/Portfolio Manager working in the following roles: equities, fixed income, or derivatives
