We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead the delivery of a complex port infrastructure project involving quay crane supply and installation, civil works, and electrical systems integration.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, on-time, and on-budget execution across multidisciplinary teams, with a strong focus on heavy lifting operations, crane commissioning, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end project execution, from planning and design through commissioning, handover, and close-out, ensuring successful delivery aligned with strategic objectives.
- Direct and manage integrated project scopes, including quay crane supply, erection, and commissioning; civil works such as foundations, piling, and quay interface; and electrical systems covering high-voltage (HV), low-voltage (LV), power distribution, and electrification.
- Oversee complex heavy lifting operations, logistics planning, and installation sequencing to ensure efficiency, safety, and minimal disruption to operations.
- Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations, technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Drive overall project performance, including schedule adherence, cost control, forecasting, and proactive risk identification and mitigation.
- Provide leadership and oversight in the management of contractors, OEMs, consultants, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment, accountability, and quality execution.
- Champion and enforce a strong Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture, ensuring that all activities are executed in accordance with the highest safety standards.
- Lead client engagement, including coordination, reporting, and performance reviews, ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and high levels of client satisfaction.
- Establish and maintain robust governance, reporting frameworks, and decision-making processes at the executive level.
- Ensure seamless integration across all project components, resolving interface challenges and driving collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership and decision-making under pressure
- Expertise in project planning, scheduling (Primavera P6/MS Project)
- Contract management (FIDIC/NEC experience preferred)
- Cost control, forecasting, and reporting
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering
- Master’s Degree is an advantage
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification preferred
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification preferred
- Minimum 12+ years in construction/engineering projects
- At least 5+ years in port, marine, or quay crane-related projects
- Proven experience in:
- Heavy lifting and crane installation
- Civil and structural works for port infrastructure
- Electrical systems integration and commissioning
- Experience managing full project lifecycle and large multidisciplinary teams
