Field Service Technician – GPS & Vehicle Telematics

Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable and technically skilled Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and support GPS tracking and vehicle telematics systems for various client fleets and vehicles. The technician will handle on-site deployments, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and customer support while ensuring high-quality workmanship and timely service delivery.

Minimum education requirement: High school diploma.

Essential technical competencies include automotive knowledge and electronics repair skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install GPS tracking devices, telematics systems, dashcams, sensors, and related accessories on vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct wiring, testing, calibration, and configuration of installed devices.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, electrical, and connectivity issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of telematics equipment.
  • Coordinate with the technical support and operations team regarding deployment schedules and service concerns.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance and customer orientation on system usage.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of installations, service reports, and inventory usage.
  • Monitor installation quality standards and follow safety procedures.
  • Conduct field inspections and device audits when necessary.
  • Support fleet system upgrades and new technology rollouts.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicle in good working condition.
  • Travel to client locations for installation and support activities.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of Electronics, Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, IT, or related technical courses.
  • Experience in GPS tracking, vehicle telematics, auto electrical systems, or related field is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in vehicle wiring, electrical troubleshooting, and device installation.
  • Familiarity with fleet management systems, GPS devices, and mobile applications is preferred.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willing to do fieldwork and travel.
  • Can work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • With valid driver's licence (motorcycle and/or vehicle) is an advantage.
