Job Overview:
The Senior Banking Officer will execute key accountabilities within set procedures and guidelines to contribute to accurate and timely processing and reporting of information and to provide optimal service to internal and external customers.
This role focuses on settlements, reconciliations and accounts payable but is also expected to be cross functionally trained in all aspects of Finance support activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Settlement/Payment Processing, Data Entry & Management
- Collect and enter information into the company's banking system and other relevant databases, ensuring all data is clean, accurate and up to date to ensure customers and internal stakeholders have access to information when required.
- Accurately recording transactions in the General Ledger in a timely manner.
- Processing all settlement/payment types in a timely manner, ensuring integrity with transactions and supporting documentation.
- Prompt payment investigations as required.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of procedures relating to security, storage and retention of all data, files and information relevant to Key Tasks.
- Account Reconciliation and Statistics
- Accurate and prompt completion of required reconciliations.
- Timely reconciliation of General Ledgers and promptly following up reconciliation items as required.
- Work with stakeholders to clear reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Accounts Payable
- Provides assistance with reconciling and preparing internal and external payment runs accurately.
- Supports verification and checking of payments to ensure accurate processing of payment runs.
- Help ensure all payments are scheduled and made before their due dates.
- Assists in applying accurate costing and GST treatment to prepared payments.
- Maintains awareness of and supports adherence to the banks authority limits policy for expense authorization.
- General
- Assist other team members during times of peak demand and when opportunity presents.
- Assists with leave cover for other Finance Officers where required to support task and activity delivery.
- Adheres to KPIs & timeframes when participating in different administration roles.
- Participates in team and individual development activities to facilitate opportunities for growth of self and other team members.
- Maintains/creates role and task procedure documents so that they are current and available for use by all team members.
- Assist other staff members regarding general or specific enquiries, utilizing all areas of expertise held.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry procedures relating to payments.
- Service Delivery
- Respond to queries and requests from customers internal and external, in line with procedures, consistently delivering to enhanced service standards so that all the customers needs are met.
- Audit
- Check accuracy and completeness of information databases to ensure data is compliant with policies and procedures and so that regulatory requirements are met.
- Assistance with Audit including queries and collation of information as required.
- Supply Information
- Assist with operational questions of bank employees and external contacts and respond to queries using standard systems and processes so that service is efficient and there is accurate sharing of information.
- Compile Reports and Documentation
- Analyze and compile reports and documents on a regular basis, or ad hoc as requested, to provide insight into the designated area and to meet regulatory requirements.
- Compliance
- Be aware of and comply with the banks policies and procedures and wider legislation to ensure that customer information is correctly handled, and the banks workplace policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Attend to requests as required to ensure assurance and 1st line reviews can be supported by Team Leader.
- Projects
- Participate in regular and new projects in own expertise area or participate in business-wide projects where required to meet project goals.
Qualifications:
- Certificate III Business (desirable)
- Ability to work autonomously on tasks, whilst maintaining a team lens
- Shows initiative and willingness to share ideas
- Accuracy and efficiency with Microsoft programs including Excel (intermediate level desirable)
- Draws on skills and experience to resolve issues and make decisions
- Focus on continuous improvement
- Willingness to work cross-functionally to ensure understanding of a breadth of tasks across the team
