Overall Purpose of the Job:

Primarily responsible for all tax related compliance for Manila entities (e.g. Expanded Withholding Tax, Withholding Tax on Compensation, Value Added Tax, Income Tax Return, Final Withholding Tax, Final Withholding VAT (FWVAT) etc. ). Including reviewing all tax statutory requirements for Manila entities.

As part of the Group tax function, this role will be working with Group Tax in London and also liaising with external advisors as required.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Preparation and/or Review of all tax related returns.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax figures to be included in the Financial Statements and deal with the statutory auditors with regard to all tax matters.
  • Liaise with BIR as required.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors as required.
  • Dotted reporting line to Group Tax in London.
  • Set up and monitor tax processes and controls to ensure complete compliance and ensure the maintenance of appropriate documentation.
  • Identify tax risk areas and introduce measures to monitor, control and measure risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement of tax management throughout all Manila entities
  • Provide guidance to finance and business partners, including analysis of tax implications, evaluating, providing solutions and assisting with implementation.
  • Prepare Group Tax Reporting packs for all Manila entities and provide explanations of effective tax rates.
  • Assist with Transfer Pricing compliance and enquiries from the business.
  • Support the tax internal audit program.
  • Support tax training of the non tax specialists specifically local finance however it may include Legal, HR etc
  • Support with data required for Pillar Two and CbCR
  • Ad hoc support to Group Tax with sister entities in Asia where the Manila time zone may be beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting, business administration, Tax or related field.
  • Must have at least 8-15 years of experience in PH Tax role
  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of PH direct and indirect tax.
  • Experience dealing & negotiations with BIR Tax Examiners
  • Excellent command of English written and spoken;
  • Demonstrate experience of working with cross border transactions;
  • Demonstrate experience of driving the continuous improvement;
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications;
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple companies / customers.
  • Demonstrated autonomy and quality of delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong business relationships.
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Self starter
  • BIR accredited tax practitioner
  • Masters in Taxation
