Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Responsible for the overall business development program, evaluating and quantifying sales opportunities.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and markets for importation, freight forwarding, and brokerage.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Importation and Logistics Management:
- Strategically plan, manage, and report on freight forwarding, importation, brokerage, transportation, and customer services operations.
- Oversee the importation process, including supplier negotiations, order management, and logistics coordination.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant import regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements.
- Ensure that the company complies with and is up to date on laws and regulations pertaining to logistics operations.
Operational Oversight:
- Spearhead logistics sales and overall operations, especially in freight forwarding.
- Liaise with the operations team for the implementation and management of new and ongoing business.
- Resolve operational issues and manage both internal and external customers systematically.
Process Optimization and Reporting:
- Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements through proficient reports.
- Prepare and present reports on import performance, market trends, and business development activities.
- Carry out business targets, organize and formulate development plans, and establish key performance indicators (KPIs).
Client and Supplier Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve favorable pricing and contract terms.
- Address and resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers or partners.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all importation and logistics activities adhere to regulatory requirements, including handling dangerous cargo.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Customs Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Licensed Broker) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or importation management, with a proven track record of driving growth and managing import activities.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of import regulations, tariffs, customs procedures, and logistics operations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
