Job Information
Job Description- Safety Officer Duties: Often designated as the person in charge of maintaining all Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) and Fire-Fighting Equipment (FFE). This includes regular inspections of lifeboats, life rafts, life jackets, and fire extinguishers.
- Emergency Drills: Organizes and maintains records for mandatory safety drills, such as fire, abandon ship, and man-overboard exercises.
- Navigational Watchkeeping: Typically stands the 08:00–12:00 and 20:00–24:00 bridge watches. They assist the 2nd Officer with chart corrections and meteorological reports.
- Cargo & Port Operations: Supervises the aft (rear) mooring station during docking and assists the Chief Officer in monitoring cargo loading and unloading in port.
- Administrative Tasks: Prepares port documentation (arrival/departure papers), updates crew muster lists, and maintains the ship’s technical library.
- Signaling & Flags: Responsible for the upkeep and correct display of all national, signal, and courtesy flags.
Skills and Qualifications:
AT LEAST 18 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE AS 3RD OFFICER
WITH OR WITHOUT VALID US VISA
HOLDING VALID DOCUMENTS
