The Qualifications We Seek

Experience and skills
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Australian clients (essential)
  • Working knowledge of Australian GST, BAS, and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to manage accounts payable / accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end processes with minimal supervision
  • Strong experience using Xero
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Experience working in a client-facing or service-based environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Your Daily Tasks

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Enter purchase orders and supplier invoices into Xero and create corresponding sales invoices to clients upon request of the Operations team
  • Perform daily reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Review status of purchase orders to ensure that they are billed to clients
  • Prepare payment files for weekly creditors run and send out remittance advice to paid suppliers
  • Update suppliers' profiles in Xero to ensure that their bank account and other relevant information are correct
  • Prepare weekly trade debtors list or aged accounts receivable summary
  • Perform month-end reporting, including review of general ledger accounts, creation of relevant journals, and preparation of month-end report pack (Profit and Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flows Statement, and Aged Receivables and Payables Summaries)
  • Perform other accounting-related tasks required by the team
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly Business Activity Statements for clients
  • Perform data entry of bank statements, invoices, receipts, and other source documents
  • Prepare quarterly/annual accounts and required workpapers
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of Individual, Partnership, Trust, and Company Tax returns
  • Assist with STP annual finalization
  • Prepare taxable payments annual reports
  • Proactively identify and communicate job status and emerging issues
  • Prepare weekly creditors reports and contact suppliers to request their latest statements for reconciliation with records
