We're looking for a warm, adaptable, and skilled Assistant Chef to join our kitchen team serving a community of Japanese ESL students. You'll help plan and prepare daily meals that feel both nourishing and familiar — bridging authentic Japanese comfort food with local Filipino ingredients and flavors.
What you'll doPrepare daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a student population of approximately 60-80 Japanese ESL learners
Assist the head chef in menu planning with Japanese dietary preferences in mind (e.g. rice-based meals, miso, tofu, mild seasoning profiles)
Adapt recipes to use locally available Filipino ingredients while maintaining familiar flavors for Japanese palates
Handle food prep, cooking, plating, and kitchen sanitation following food safety standards
Accommodate individual dietary restrictions including allergies and vegetarian/vegan requirements
Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain smooth, on-time meal service
Who we're looking forAt least 1–2 years of professional kitchen experience; experience in Japanese or Asian cuisine is a strong advantage
Genuine interest in Japanese food culture and sensitivity to cultural dietary preferences
Positive and respectful attitude toward a diverse, international student community
Able to work flexible hours including early mornings and weekends
Team player who communicates clearly and stays calm under pressure
