Job Summary:

The Store Development Assistant (Paralegal) will support the store development team by managing legal documentation and processes related to the establishment of retail stores. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of legal terminology, contract management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the review and preparation of lease agreements, contracts, and other legal documents related to store development.
  • Conduct legal research on zoning laws, permitting requirements, and compliance regulations relevant to retail locations.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and internal stakeholders to ensure all legal requirements are met for store openings and renovations.
  • Maintain an organized database of legal documents and project files, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance.
  • Assist in negotiating terms and conditions with landlords, vendors, and contractors as needed.
  • Support the due diligence process for new store locations, including title searches and property assessments.
  • Prepare and file necessary documentation for local government approvals and permits.
  • Monitor project timelines and ensure legal milestones align with store development schedules.
  • Assist in training team members on legal compliance and best practices related to store development.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or certificate in paralegal studies; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as a paralegal or in a legal support role, preferably in real estate or retail development.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with occasional travel to store sites for inspections or meetings.
  • May require extended hours during critical project phases.
