QA Automation Tester (Mid Level)
About the role
Are you a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Automation QA with 2+ years of experience and are passionate about quality, performance, and delivering bug-free web applications?
We're an Australian software company looking for a talented mid-level QA Automation Tester based in the Philippines to join our team.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our large, complex Ruby on Rails + frontend application. This is your chance to work on a high-impact product and shape the testing environment with modern tools and collaborative team.
Location & Work Setup- Remote (Work from Home) – Based in the Philippines
- Working hours aligned to Australian Eastern time (AEST)
- Stable internet connection required
- Laptop and tools provided
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automated tests for a complex web application.
- Use Playwright (preferred) or similar tools (Cypress, Selenium) to build reliable, scalable test suites.
- Debug frontend issues using browser developer tools (Chrome DevTools, etc.) and diagnose timing, async, or rendering problems.
- Collaborate with developers and define test strategies and improve quality.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Perform API testing and validate backend behavior in a Ruby on Rails environment.
- Perform manual testing as part of the test process
- Contribute to test framework design and best practices, create the foundations for best testing practices
- 2+ years of experience in test automation for web applications.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright (preferred) — or Cypress / Selenium WebDriver.
- Solid understanding of SPA frameworks (AngularJS, Vue, React) and asynchronous web behavior.
- Expertise in using browser debugging tools (DevTools, network inspection, console logging).
- Experience writing and maintaining reliable, maintainable test code
- Experience working independently in a WFH remote team environment
- Comfortable working in Git, CI/CD environments, and Agile teams.
- Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails (e.g., understanding MVC, RESTful routes, or Capybara).
- Experience with API testing (REST, JSON) and tools like Postman.
- Familiarity with BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber).
- Experience with SQL data validation and manipulation for testing purposes
- Exposure to performance or accessibility testing.
