Safety Officer

1. Safety Compliance and Regulatory Management

• Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety laws, regulations, standards, and company policies.
• Monitor changes in safety legislation and communicate updates to management.
• Assist in obtaining and maintaining required permits, licenses, and certifications related to workplace safety.
• Coordinate with government agencies, inspectors, and regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.

1. Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment

• Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify unsafe acts and conditions.
• Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessments for operational activities.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to eliminate or mitigate identified hazards.
• Maintain risk registers and hazard tracking systems.

1. Safety Program Implementation

• Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems where applicable.
• Promote continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
• Support implementation of ISO 45001 and other relevant standards.

1. Incident and Accident Management

• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Conduct root cause analysis and prepare investigation reports.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Maintain incident records and statistical reports.

1. Safety Training and Awareness

• Conduct safety orientations for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns.
• Organize emergency drills and safety exercises.
• Assess training needs and coordinate safety training programs.
• Maintain employee training records and competency documentation.

1. Emergency Preparedness and Response

• Assist in developing and maintaining Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
• Coordinate emergency drills including fire, earthquake, evacuation, and medical emergencies.
• Ensure emergency equipment and response resources are available and functional.
• Participate in emergency response activities as required.

1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management

• Ensure appropriate PPE is identified, issued, and used correctly.
• Conduct PPE compliance inspections.
• Recommend PPE requirements based on hazard assessments.
• Maintain records of PPE issuance and replacement.

1. Safety Monitoring and Reporting

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
• Monitor safety performance indicators and KPIs.
• Track corrective actions and safety observations.
• Present safety performance updates to management.

1. Contractor and Visitor Safety Management

• Ensure contractors comply with company safety requirements.
• Conduct contractor safety evaluations and site inductions.
• Monitor contractor work activities for safety compliance.
• Manage visitor safety orientation and site access requirements.

1. Health and Wellness Support

• Assist in workplace health initiatives and wellness programs.
• Coordinate occupational health surveillance programs where required.
• Monitor workplace conditions related to employee health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• Additional certifications in Occupational Health and Safety are preferred.

• Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in occupational safety, construction safety, manufacturing safety, logistics, or industrial operations.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Experience working with regulatory agencies and safety audits.

• Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Certification.
• Certified Safety Officer (SO1, SO2, SO3, SO4) or equivalent.
• First Aid and Basic Life Support Certification.
• Fire Safety and Emergency Response Training.
