Finance and Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance and Accounting Supervisor to manage financial operations in a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, ensure compliance with financial regulations, manage reporting and budgeting processes, and support decision-making through financial analysis.The ideal candidate has strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and prior experience in the distribution or logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), general ledger, cash flow, and bank reconciliations.
- Oversee inventory accounting, cost tracking, and monthly cycle counts in coordination with warehouse teams.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities; monitor actual vs. budget variances and explain key drivers.
- Prepare and review financial reports for management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Implement and improve accounting processes and ERP system workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing training and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and inventory teams to ensure financial accuracy across the supply chain.
Preferred Knowledge:
- Experience with inventory accounting and warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with sales tax, freight cost allocation, and multi-location financial consolidation.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and cost accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights to support operational decision-making.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
