POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Food Safety and Quality Officer is responsible for ensuring full compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and brand guidelines across all food operations. This role oversees hygiene implementation, audit execution, documentation control, and staff training to uphold the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance. The position plays a critical role in minimizing food safety risks and supporting operational excellence
- Food Safety Compliance & Auditing
- Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with brand standards, local regulatory requirements, and international food safety standards.
- Validate and monitor internal temperatures of food products, storage areas, and cold chain systems.
- Evaluate and verify corrective actions for audit findings and non-conformances.
- Ensure full implementation and effectiveness of food safety programs across operations.
- Identify, document, and report structural or operational deficiencies affecting food safety and quality including service.
- Hygiene & Sanitation Oversight
- Oversee overall hygiene and sanitation practices within the establishment.
- Monitor staff personal hygiene, grooming standards, and safe food handling practices.
- Ensure sanitation procedures are properly implemented and sustained.
- Manage and maintain an effective pest control program.
- Food Safety Systems & Documentation
- Maintain and manage food safety documentation, records, and compliance reports.
- Oversee traceability systems to ensure accurate product tracking and recall readiness.
- Review and manage food-related complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
- Training & Risk Management
- Conduct food safety and sanitation training sessions for food handlers and staff.
- Evaluate staff competency and proper application of food safety practices.
- Provide updates and reports to top management on high-risk areas and potential food-borne illness threats.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in food safety management systems.
- Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the immediate superior.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Institutional Management (HRIM),
- Food Technology, Nutrition, Biology, or related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years experience in the food industry, with a strong focus on restaurant audits.
- Experience in commissary operations is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine Food Laws, including:
- FDA Act of 2013
- Code on Sanitation of the Philippines
- Strong understanding of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Strong training and presentation skills.
