Accounting Officer
About the role
BUM Equipment, Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounting Officer to join our finance team on a full-time basis, based in Metro Manila. This is a critical position within our Financial Accounting & Reporting function, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.The Accounting Officer will play a vital role in supporting our organisation's financial integrity and decision-making processes, working closely with the finance team to deliver timely and accurate financial information.
What you'll be doing- Preparing and maintaining general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice verification, payment processing and collection follow-ups
- Reconciling bank statements, journal entries and other financial accounts on a monthly basis to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Assisting in the preparation of financial statements, trial balances and reconciliation reports
- Recording fixed asset transactions and maintaining the fixed asset register
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures and consolidation activities
- Ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
- Performing data entry and maintaining accurate financial records in accounting systems
- Assisting with internal and external audit activities, including providing supporting documentation as required
- Collaborating with other departments to resolve accounting queries and discrepancies
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent accounting qualification is highly preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience in a financial accounting and reporting environment
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and financial systems, with demonstrated competence in Microsoft Excel
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills
- The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly
- A professional and ethical approach to handling confidential financial information
- Experience with month-end and year-end closing procedures is advantageous
