I. Job Summary
The Product Development Manager for Food Group is a strategic role responsible for driving the brand's growth and profitability through comprehensive market analysis, innovative product development, and effective execution. This individual will lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from initial market research and concept generation to product launch, distribution, and ongoing performance optimization.This role demands a strong blend of analytical, creative, operational, and collaborative skills to ensure Wally Coffee's sustained success and market leadership.
II. Duties & Responsibilities- Market Insighting
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape
- Define target market segments and develop effective product positioning strategies
- Perform internal and external customer surveys to gather feedback and ensure product offerings
- Product Conceptualization and Development
- Translate market insights into innovative product concepts and solutions, collaborating with the Commissary Manager on feasibility and development
- Conduct thorough product costing and profitability studies, and present detailed recommendations to immediate superiors for approval
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing department on product packaging, awareness programs, launch strategies, and post-launch activities
- Coordinate the implementation of approved business concepts, collaborating with relevant departments (e.g., Operations, Logistics) as needed
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive marketing calendar for the Wally Coffee brand
- Implement a continuous cycle of market insight and product development activities to drive ongoing growth of launched products and solutions
- Manuals and Standardization
- Document comprehensive systems and procedures pertaining to all developed product portfolio, ensuring consistency and quality
- Review the financial viability of proposed projects, providing critical analysis and recommendations
- Develop strategic plans to build sales and generate demand for Wally Coffee products
- Product Pipeline and Distribution
- Coordinate with the Category Manager handling Wally products to ensure seamless product launches
- Provide accurate SRP (Suggested Retail Price) and costing details for effective merchandising setup
- Collaborate with the Category Manager on product listing, promotions, and launch execution
- Market Saturation and Growth
- Develop and implement long-term goals and action plans to drive sales growth for Wally Coffee
- Monitor and ensure the achievement of sales and profitability targets
- Regularly review category performance reports and propose proactive action plans to optimize results
- Coordinate with the Category Buyer in implementing Wally Coffee initiatives to maximize market penetration
- Ad-hoc Responsibilities:
- Assist with special projects or initiatives as needed
- Provide support to other departments or teams as required
- Handle miscellaneous tasks to ensure smooth operational flow
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business development or account management within the food service industry
- Proven track record of successfully identifying, pitching and securing new business opportunities
- Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills to engage with senior stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to analyze financial and market data
- Experience in leading and motivating cross-functional teams to achieve business goals
- Familiarity with the food service landscape and regulatory environment in the Philippines
- Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, HRM, or any related field
