Fire Protection Draftsperson - Sprinkler & FDAS (FDF-106)
About the Role
We have partnered with a leading Australian company specializing in the preparation of technical drawings, system layouts, and installation documentation for fire protection projects.
As a Fire Protection Draftsperson – Sprinkler & Detection Systems, you will support the design and documentation of automatic fire sprinkler systems and fire detection systems.
In this role will work closely with estimators, project managers, and engineers to develop accurate and compliant fire system designs.

What you’ll be working on:
Fire System Drafting- Produce detailed sprinkler system layouts including pipe routing, sprinkler head placement, and riser diagrams.
- Draft fire detection and alarm system layouts, including detectors, control panels, modules, and field devices.
- Prepare installation drawings, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
- Coordinate fire system layouts with architectural, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical services drawings.
- Assist estimators and engineers with system layouts and design documentation.
- Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Assist in preparing drawings for tender submissions and project delivery.
- Apply relevant Australian Standards and fire system installation codes under guidance.
- Assist with ensuring designs align with applicable standards such as:
- AS 2118 – Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems
- AS 1670 – Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
- AS 2419 – Fire Hydrant Systems
- Support preparation of documentation required for authority approvals and compliance.
- Maintain drawing registers and revision controls.
- Produce equipment schedules and material lists when required.
- Update drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
What we’re looking for:
- At least 6 months-3 years of relevant experience in fire protection, sprinkler systems, or FDAS-related work.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple drafting tasks
- Problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Experience drafting fire sprinkler systems, fire detection or alarm systems.
- Familiarity with fire protection design practices.
- Experience with Revit or BIM modelling software.
- Exposure to fire protection standards or codes.
Preferred skills:
- Experience in technical drafting using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and building services drawings.
