Safety Officer

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and programs aligned with DOLE standards and company objectives.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and other applicable laws.
• Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessments for various work processes.

• Conduct regular workplace safety inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities.
• Recommend corrective actions and monitor compliance by departments and contractors.
• Ensure all safety devices, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency systems are properly maintained and functional.

• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
• Prepare and submit mandatory reports to management and the DOLE, as required.

• Conduct safety orientations and trainings for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Promote safety awareness through campaigns, toolbox meetings, and regular communication.

• Lead the organization’s emergency response team and ensure preparedness for fire, earthquake, chemical spill, among other emergencies.
• Participate in the planning and execution of emergency drills and evacuation procedures.

• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, accident reports, training sessions, and safety committee meetings.
• Ensure the company’s compliance with all DOLE reporting requirements and safety committee mandates.

• Actively participate as a member or secretariat of the company’s Health and Safety Committee.
• Assist in the formulation of the Annual Occupational Safety and Health Program (AOSH).

Coordination with External Agencies

• Must be a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer III (with 80-hour BOSH Training for SO2 and additional 48-hour Advanced OSH Training).
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of DOLE/DOH/OSHC occupational health policies and reporting requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of RA 11058, DOLE D.O. 198-18, and Occupational Safety and Health Standards.
• Good communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess strong attention to detail, integrity, and a proactive attitude toward safety.
• Willing to work on-site and render overtime or shifting schedules if required.

Qualifications:

• Preferably BS Nursing graduate (Licensed) or a graduate of Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related course.
• Must be a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer III (with 80-hour BOSH Training for SO2 and additional 48-hour Advanced OSH Training).
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid is an advantage.
