Senior accountant

About the Role

As Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing financial accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing timely, accurate financial information to support strategic decision-making. Your expertise will directly contribute to the company's financial health and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare, review and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
• Record and reconcile journal entries, ensuring proper classification and accurate reflection of all financial transactions
• Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations and inter-company transactions
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accurate recording of invoices and payments
• Conduct month-end and year-end closing procedures, including accruals, adjustments and reconciliations
• Prepare and analyse financial reports and variance analyses to support management and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations, accounting policies and internal controls
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy in accounting functions
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development
• Liaise with external auditors during audit processes and assist in resolution of audit findings

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent professional qualification
• Professional accounting certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is highly desirable
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in financial accounting and reporting roles
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (IFRS or GAAP) and tax regulations
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting applications
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong understanding of internal controls and risk management practices
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience in the food and beverage, hospitality or retail industry is advantageous but not essential
• Proven experience in supervising and developing accounting team members is preferred
