Safety officer

Job Description

• Implement and enforce company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
• Monitor compliance with local occupational safety regulations and client safety requirements.
• Lead toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and safety awareness campaigns.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate emergency response activities and ensure emergency equipment is properly maintained.
• Prepare, review, and maintain technical safety documents, including:
• Permit-to-Work (PTW) documentation
• Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
• Risk Assessments (RA)
• Method Statements (MS)
• Safe Work Procedures (SWP)
• Emergency Response Plans (ERP)
• Safety reports, inspection reports, and incident investigation reports
• Safety plans and other HSE-related documentation required by clients and regulatory agencies
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure safety requirements are integrated into project execution.
• Monitor the implementation of corrective actions arising from safety inspections and audits.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field.
• Certified Safety Officer (SO2, SO3, or equivalent certification) is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Safety Officer in construction, infrastructure,
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage technical safety documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, JSAs, safety plans, and other HSE documents.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Demonstrates confidence, integrity, and the ability to be firm and assertive when enforcing safety rules and addressing non-compliance.
• Maintains professionalism by treating colleagues, workers, clients, and supervisors with courtesy and respect at all times.
• Willingly accepts guidance and instructions from supervisors while carrying out responsibilities with accountability and professionalism.
