Safety Officer 3

About the role

As Safety Officer 3, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programmes that protect our employees, contractors, and assets. This senior-level safety role is strategically important to our organisation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the company.

1. Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes tailored to logistics operations
2. Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards and non-compliance issues
3. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
4. Provide safety training and induction programmes to employees at all levels, ensuring understanding of safety protocols
5. Maintain comprehensive health and safety documentation, records, and reports required by regulatory authorities
6. Liaise with external bodies, including government agencies and safety consultants, regarding compliance and certifications
7. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives and recommend improvements
8. Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote awareness and engagement across all departments
9. Advise management on health and safety matters and provide strategic recommendations for risk mitigation
10. Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of safety equipment and personal protective equipment

1. A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline
2. Professional certification such as Certified Safety Officer (CSO), Certified Occupational Health and Safety Professional (COHSP), or equivalent recognised qualification
3. Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in occupational health and safety roles, with at least 2-3 years in a senior safety officer capacity
4. Proven experience in the logistics, transportation, or warehouse industry is highly desirable
5. In-depth knowledge of Philippine occupational health and safety regulations, including the Labor Code and relevant DOLE guidelines
6. Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures specific to logistics environments
7. Excellent knowledge of accident investigation procedures and incident reporting mechanisms
8. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programmes
9. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence behaviour and promote safety culture
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail
11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety management software
12. Valid driver's license and willingness to conduct site visits and inspections
