Job Summary
The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting the daily accounting and financial operations of the company. The role includes handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, project cost monitoring, billing, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate accounting records for construction projects.The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and knowledgeable in construction accounting processes, including progress billing, subcontractor payments, and project cost tracking.
Key Responsibilities- Process and record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare and monitor project progress billings and collection schedules.
- Verify supplier invoices, subcontractor billings, and payment requests.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and cost allocations per project.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and schedules.
- Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, ledgers, and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Site Engineers regarding project expenditures and billing requirements.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare journal vouchers, check vouchers, and other accounting documents.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and government regulations.
- Assist during internal and external audits.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Financial Management, or related field.
- At least 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of construction accounting, project costing, and progress billing is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
- Familiarity with BIR regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience using SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle, or similar accounting systems.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, retention, and project billing.
- Understanding of payroll processing and government remittances.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Financial Reports).
