Job Description
The General Accounting Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The role supports month-end closing, reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure the integrity of financial data across Southstar Drug’s retail operations.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and record journal entries and ensure proper documentation of transactions.
- Perform account reconciliations (bank, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts).
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain and monitor the general ledger for accuracy and completeness.
- Preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
- Coordinate with other departments (AP, AR, Inventory, Operations) for accurate financial data.
- Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation to internal/external auditors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting, or Finance
- CPA is an advantage (but not required)
- At least 2–4 years of experience in general accounting or financial reporting
- Experience in retail, FMCG, or pharmaceutical industry is a plus
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
