Position Title: Merchandise Planner
Reports To: Merchandising Manager
Job Summary
The Merchandise Planner is responsible for developing and executing merchandise plans that drive sales, optimize inventory, and maximize profitability. This role serves as a key link between suppliers/manufacturers and retail operations, ensuring timely delivery of products and alignment with market demand.
Insights gathered will be used to build data-driven product assortment and development plans aligned with current trends and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandise Planning & Analysis- Analyze historical sales data, sell-through rates, and inventory performance to develop merchandise plans
- Forecast demand and recommend optimal product assortment and allocation
- Monitor product performance and recommend replenishment, markdowns, or phase-out strategies
- Develop product assortment plans based on customer demand, market trends, and seasonality
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams on product development initiatives
- Ensure a balanced mix of products to maximize profitability and minimize slow-moving items
- Act as liaison between suppliers/manufacturers and retail operations
- Ensure timely delivery of products and maintain optimal stock levels
- Monitor inventory flow and recommend actions to avoid overstocking or stockouts
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and market research
- Stay updated on industry trends and customer preferences
- Translate insights into actionable merchandising strategies
