The Server / Barista is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while preparing and serving food and beverages in accordance with company standards. This role supports both cafeteria and coffee station operations by ensuring efficient service, maintaining food and beverage quality, and upholding cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards.

The Server / Barista is expected to be flexible, customer-focused, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume canteen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Food & Beverage Service
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages according to standardized recipes and portioning guidelines.
  • Prepare coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, frappes, smoothies, and other specialty drinks.
  • Ensure food and beverages are served accurately, promptly, and professionally.
  • Replenish food and beverage items during service hours.
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation before serving.
Customer Service
  • Greet customers warmly and provide courteous, professional service.
  • Assist customers with menu selections and beverage recommendations.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries, requests, and concerns.
  • Promote a positive dining and café experience through excellent service.
  • Maintain professionalism and a customer-first attitude at all times.
Beverage Preparation
  • Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare beverages according to standardized recipes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Perform daily calibration, cleaning, and basic maintenance of coffee equipment.
  • Ensure beverage stations remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Service Operations
  • Set up and maintain serving and beverage stations before, during, and after operations.
  • Monitor food and beverage levels and coordinate replenishment with the kitchen.
  • Ensure efficient service flow during peak hours.
  • Assist with cashiering and queue management when assigned.
Food Safety & Sanitation
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Practice proper food handling and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, service counters, coffee equipment, and dining areas.
  • Monitor food and beverage holding temperatures where applicable.
  • Wear complete prescribed uniform and maintain proper personal grooming.
Inventory & Station Maintenance
  • Monitor supplies such as coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, condiments, utensils, and disposable items.
  • Assist in stock replenishment and inventory counts.
  • Practice proper stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Minimize food and beverage waste through proper handling and portion control.
  • Report shortages, damaged equipment, or product quality concerns immediately.
Teamwork & Communication
  • Coordinate closely with the kitchen, cashier, and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Assist teammates during busy periods and support overall operational efficiency.
  • Attend daily briefings and follow operational instructions.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and collaborative working environment.
Qualifications
  • Senior High School graduate; a vocational or college background in Hospitality Management, HRM, or a related field is an advantage.
  • At least 1 year of experience in food service, cafés, restaurants, coffee shops, or canteen operations.
  • Experience in coffee preparation and customer service is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of espresso-based beverages and food safety practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physicallyfit and willing to work on shifting schedules.
