Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Reporting: Monitor and ensure company compliance with DOLE OSH standards (Republic Act No. 11058). Assist in DOLE inspections and maintain accurate safety records.
Risk Management: Conduct regular Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC). Perform Job Hazard Analysis before new tasks begin.Training & Orientation: Facilitate mandatory safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and specialized seminars (e.g., BOSH, COSH) for staff.
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents or near-misses, and recommend corrective actions.
Emergency Response: Prepare emergency preparedness plans and coordinate drills (fire, earthquake).
Authority: Hold the power to issue Work Stoppage Orders (WSO) in situations of imminent danger to workers.
Qualifications & Requirements- Certifications: Must have DOLE-accredited training corresponding to their safety officer level, such as Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) for SO1-SO2, and Construction OSH (COSH) for SO3.
- Educational Background: Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Nursing, Occupational Health, or any related discipline.
- Experience: Requires experience in safety management, loss control, or a related field (typically 1–3 years for mid-level roles, more for safety managers).
